How Our Minds Keep Us Trapped

Our minds are powerful tools, but they can also be a prison. Our memories and thoughts can keep us trapped in a loop of fear, anxiety and depression.

The brain is made up of billions of neurons that control our emotions, thinking patterns and behavior. When we experience something traumatic, the neurons form pathways in our brains that can set off an alarm reaction when triggered by certain stimuli. This creates a negative feedback loop in which we become stuck on the same train of thought or emotion over and over again.

Fortunately, there are ways to break this cycle and free ourselves from mental entrapment. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one way to rewire our brains so that we develop healthier thought patterns and gain more control over our emotions.
